Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Executive Board of the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association, it is my honor and genuine pleasure to welcome both our new and returning members to another year of connection, learning, and shared purpose.
2025 was truly exceptional, filled with milestones that reflect the strength and heart of our community. The Commonwealth of Virginia’s Joint House Resolution recognizing NVVMA for more than 50 years of service was a proud moment for us all. We were equally delighted to present the 2025 Legend Award to the remarkable Larry Koffer, whose dedication continues to inspire us.
Our commitment to wellbeing and service also shone brightly as we joined the local Out of the Darkness Walk, organized by the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Under the extraordinary leadership of A’ndrea Van Schoick, we raised almost $8k and had 18 walkers, raising meaningful support and awareness.
Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be a dynamic and rewarding year. We are excited to introduce a new dinner venue and continue beloved traditions. Please save the following dates:
- March 25 – Lebanese Taverna
- May 15 – Social Dinner: Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse, Fairfax Corner
- September 24 – Wildfire Restaurant
- November 19 – Peking Gourmet Inn
We also look forward to two signature events:
- The 2nd annual VetStock on April 23 at Jammin’ Java, featuring High Pressure Gradients
- And our continued participation in the AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk in the Fall.
As always, if there is any way we can support you, your organization, or your hospital team, please don’t hesitate to reach out—to me or to any members of your Executive Board:
Vice President: Dr. Hunter Hamblen
Treasurer: Dr. Elizabeth Johnson
Secretary: Dr. Courtney Scarborough
Advisor: Dr. Brian Neumann
Our strength has always been rooted in our relationships. I am proud and grateful to serve alongside such a dedicated, compassionate, and vibrant community of NVVMA veterinarians.
Remember to make room for play every day.
With deep appreciation,
Dr. Bonnie Lefbom
52nd President, NVVMA
